Why does Pocketful say "Can't tell from this photo"?
Pocketful says it can't tell when the photo does not show enough to name the coin. It does not guess, because a wrong answer is worse than no answer. The message says what to photograph next, for example "show the date up close" or "show the back".
To get a better photo: lay the coin flat, fill the circle, and use soft, even light. Take the back too: it helps with the mint mark and the type.
A "can't tell" answer does not use one of your free identifications.
What does "Probably" mean?
Pocketful thinks it knows the coin, but one detail is not certain, often a worn date or a small mint mark. It names the detail to check, for example "Probably — check the year". Photograph that detail up close, in good light, and scan again.
Why does it say "Not a coin"?
Tokens, medals and replicas were never issued as money, so Pocketful doesn't name them as coins. If you think it is wrong, photograph both sides, flat and sharp, and scan again.
The result is wrong. What can I do?
If the answer was "Identified" or "Probably", save the coin, open it in your collection, and correct the result. Your correction replaces Pocketful's answer on your iPhone.
Can I scan several coins in one photo?
Not yet. Pocketful identifies one coin per scan.
Value
Why doesn't Pocketful show what my coin is worth?
Pocketful shows a value only when it can name where the price comes from, and it does not have a price source yet. Until then it says "Value: not available yet". A made-up number could cost you money.
For common modern US coins, it says "Common coin — usually worth face value."
Errors
"You're offline", "Pocketful is busy right now" or "That's a lot of scans at once"
You're offline: your iPhone has no internet connection. Check it, then try again.
Pocketful is busy right now: Pocketful's server has reached its limit for today. Try again later. Your internet is fine.
That's a lot of scans at once: you made many scans in a short time. Wait a little, then try again.
In each case your photos stay on the screen, and the error does not use a free identification.
Subscription
How do I cancel Pocketful Pro or the free trial?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, then tap Pocketful. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends or the subscription renews. You can also open it from the app: Settings → Manage subscription.
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
I bought Pocketful Pro but the app does not know
In the app, open Settings and tap Restore purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles payments and refunds. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your data
How do I delete my data?
In the app, open Settings and tap Delete my data. This deletes your saved coins and their photos on your iPhone, and forgets your guest ID. Your free-scan count stays, so it does not reset the free identifications.
To delete one coin, open it in your collection and tap Delete. Its photos are deleted too.
What is sent, and how long it is kept: privacy policy.
Where do my photos go?
Only when you tap Identify, and only after you agree, Pocketful sends the photos of your coin to its server and to OpenAI to identify it. Pocketful's server does not keep them. OpenAI may keep them for up to 30 days. The photos of the coins you save stay on your iPhone.
